Oh Kuropon... *CRY*
Sooo this past month I've been having computer problems. It keeps restarting at random. My motherboard temperature was normal, (Around 50 degrees Celcius) and "restart on overheat" as well as "restart on system error" functions were disabled.
At first we (my tech and I) thought it was a worm. It looked okay for about two weeks then it returned. We tried using miniPE (portable Windows, it's basically OS installed on a CD) but it was still stupid, so okay, it wasn't the system and it ruled out worm. (The fact that I scanned with like eight programs and none of them found anything is already saying something = =; ) I got a new RAM and it was still doing that. (We think one of the memory slots shouldn't be used anymore though -.-; ) The processor looked okay, and we checked with another (more powerful) PSU to no avail. Heck, I even replaced my hard drive and it was still restarting at random. I really hoped (still hoping) that it's not my motherboard.
I didn't bother checking the VGA card because it's only about seven months old... And after tons of test and trial we concluded that it was most likely the VGA card. We think it overheated and got really stupid... We think. "OTL It was running pretty hot, and it was one of the VGA cards that has a huge heatsink but no fan = =; We removed it and used another VGA card and it has yet to fail in the past hour. Can't be too sure yet though, because even though it's been restarting every 5 minutes while we were at the tech's, for the past few days it could take around 30 hours from one restart to another. :/
Thankfully the VGA card is still under warranty so I'm going to send it to the store for repairs tomorrow/the day after. It should take about a week but my tech is nice enough to lend me his VGA card. T^T My monitor looks weird now, the left side of the screen streches out but the right side is squeezed in. I can't fix it no matter how much I tampered with the monitor settings. (and I installed the VGA driver, obviously. -.-; ) Also, I seem to be stuck with the move cursor (the four-way arrows) a lot, even while hovering over links (where I'm supposed to get the link select/hand cursor) Oh well, better than nothing. "OTL
Now, after a series of test and trials we got new problem. The compy would start up really slowly unless I unhook my DVD drive. It's mostly okay after booting though, it just takes really long to do so. = =; Also, it would start up when I turn my UPS on, while normally it would just start the UPS and not the compy. O o;
And after testing for a while it has proved to be problematic. A couple times it wouldn't reboot with the DVD drive hooked, instead, it gave me a blue screen (of death) and did a physical memory dump. My sound card also plays stupid with it hooked, to the point where I think my speakers were broken. It would work without the DVD drive (just problematic, because I keep a lot of stuff on CDs "OTL ) but it would still restart occasionally. We're afraid that the damage from the overheated VGA card has reached the motherboard and that we may need to replace it, after all. T^T
Sooo... Can any tech-savvy person give me an insight? T^T

We're pretty sure that it's the VGA card now, but we're afraid that the damage from the VGA card overheating might have burned into the motherboard as well. >_<

Tuna Casserole:
Ingredients: 1 large casserole dish
Place the casserole dish in a cold oven.
Place a chair facing the oven and sit in it forever.
Think about how hungry you are.
When night falls, do not turn on the light.
At least we've found the main culprit... We hope. >_>;

I dunno, just a theory. I can ask one of my friends who works and a computer repair place what he thinks may be wrong with it.

It still restarted while I booted with a portable Windows, meaning it's another system altogether. So unless it's a virus that messed up my motherboard's firmware then it's very unlikely. :/
We think it's the VGA card, but the heat damaged my motherboard along the way. What's really weird is that it would boot up a lot faster if I don't have my DVD drive hooked. It only started doing that yesterday after tons of hardware tests though, so I can't be too sure. -.-
So now I'm replacing the main board and possibly the PSU. If the DVD drive still does that then I'll be replacing that, too. (I feel money flies... TAT )
